Been in care? Questions before release
For a conversation with your personal adviser, leaving-care team or resettlement worker. Age, care history and scheme conditions affect entitlement.
□ Confirm the council responsible, my leaving-care status and personal adviser.
□ Review my pathway plan for release and agree who is doing what.
□ Check housing arrangements and what happens if accommodation falls through.
□ Ask about the setting-up-home allowance and any remaining balance.
□ Check education or apprenticeship bursaries and their evidence requirements.
□ Ask about ID, deposit, travel, work clothing, food, utilities and council tax support.
□ Ask whether the council offers an allowance during custody.
□ Confirm eligibility, deadlines, purchases/payments and expected dates in writing.
□ Ask for reasons and the review/complaint route if help is refused.
